The Cecchi Challenge

We were looking for a way to bring Tuscany and its wines to life that was fun and engaging. Part of the challenge with the region is that most people think they already know it. But there is so much to talk about to even the moderately curious wine fan: the history of Chianti, Chianti Classico, how Sangiovese came to be the dominant grape variety in the region and yet has also developed so many different ‘personalities’ according to where it is grown; what else there is to try from Tuscany (answer: a lot) and a bit of the history of the region.

Wine Communicators Brad Horne and Hannah Gray helped to take the assembled guests through some key facts about the region, its history and top wine information. Then it was time for everyone to take “The Cecchi Challenge”. Some relatively easy questions, some fiendishly hard, and all finished off with a blind tasting of 4 wines from the region with questions about them.

All in all, a fun but quite engaging way to encourage wine fans to learn more about Tuscany while enjoying some excellent wines into the bargain! The winner of the Cecchi Challenge was awarded with a delicious case of the finest Cecchi wines as their ultimate prize.
